Offer Description
We are looking for a Lab Technician to support our cell-culture and experimental workflows. This is a hands‑on laboratory role for someone who enjoys careful practical work, reliable documentation and helping a team produce reproducible results.
About the role
You will maintain cell cultures and stocks, carry out established assays and prepare samples for downstream analysis. You will work closely with our scientists, helping optimise protocols together and then running them reliably once established.
The emphasis is on high-quality experimental execution. You are not expected to independently lead a scientific programme or arrive with experience in every specialist assay.
Requirements

Skills/Qualifications
Your responsibilities
- Maintain and expand cell lines and primary‑cell cultures using appropriate aseptic techniques.
- Manage cryopreserved stocks, including freezing, thawing, labelling and inventory records.
- Run established in vitro assays, including cellular uptake and expression assays, and support cell‑based functional testing.
- Prepare samples for flow cytometry and other downstream analyses according to agreed protocols.
- Support in vivo studies through experimental preparation, sample and tissue collection, and downstream processing. Carry out animal‑related work only within the required approvals, training and supervision.
- Help establish and optimise protocols with the responsible scientist, then execute the agreed procedures reproducibly.
- Maintain clear experimental records, SOPs, reagent stocks and sample traceability; flag deviations or problems promptly.
Specific Requirements
What we are looking for
- Completed vocational training as a biological laboratory technician, BTA, MTA/MTL or a comparable qualification, or equivalent relevant practical laboratory experience. A university degree is not required.
- Hands‑on mammalian cell‑culture experience and a sound understanding of aseptic technique. Training placements and supervised practical experience count.
- A careful, organised approach to following protocols, handling samples and documenting work.
- Reliability in routine laboratory work, willingness to ask when something is unclear, and the ability to recognise and report deviations.
- Clear communication in English and the ability to work collaboratively in an on‑site laboratory team.
- Experience with primary cells, immune cells or cryopreservation and cell‑bank management.
- Experience preparing samples for flow cytometry or running cell‑based functional assays.
- Experience with lipid‑nanoparticle uptake or expression assays, or CAR‑T‑related laboratory workflows.
- Experience supporting approved animal studies, tissue collection or downstream tissue processing.
You do not need all of these specialist skills to apply. Recently qualified technicians are welcome; tell us what you have done in practice and where you would need further training.
