Research Associate (m/f/d)

for the Department of Veterinary Medicine Specialization in Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics

In accordance with § 2 WissZeitVG and § 72 HessHG, the position is to be filled on a fixed-term basis at the Chair of Small Animals (Internal Medicine) at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine with the opportunity for own academic qualification. The salary is in accordance with the collective labour agreement of the State of Hessen (E 13 TV-H).

As long as the maximum permissible duration of a fixed-term contract is not exceeded, you will be employed for an initial period of 3 years. An extension for up to another 2 years (or 3 years if holding a doctoral degree or Ph.D. at the time of appointment) is possible under the above-mentioned condition.

Your tasks at a glance

• Opportunity for own academic and didactic qualification, activities in research and teaching according to § 72 HessHG
• Taking on teaching duties according to the teaching obligation ordinance of the state of Hessen
• Specialization in clinical laboratory diagnostics, particularly in the areas of diagnostic cytology, hematology, coagulation, and clinical chemistry
• Diagnostic services in the central laboratory of the Department of Veterinary Medicine
• Quality management and establishment of new laboratory parameters (method validation)
• Collaboration on research projects in the field of internal medicine for small animals and/or the central laboratory
• Participation in continuing education events (attendance at continuing education events and seminars, active participation in national and international conferences)

Your qualifications and competences

• Completed Master´s or equivalent university degree in Veterinary Medicine
• Completed doctoral thesis or equivalent in veterinary medicine is desirable
• License to practice as a veterinarian
• In-depth knowledge and skills in the field of clinical laboratory diagnostics, including cytology
• A strong interest in the field of clinical laboratory diagnostics
• Successfully completed a rotating internship or at least two years of clinical work experience
• Good to very good German and English skills
• Strong interest in research projects, communication skills, and the ability to work well with others
